Cake Ideas
These are a few examples of wedding cake designs that we like - something fresh, simple and suitable for an cheery autumn reception.
Cake Topper
This is our awesome cake topper! We didn’t want to do the usual (roses piled on top of the cake), nor did we want to spend a fortune on a typical porcelain figurine. Chuck saw these in one of my wedding favor magazines, and we immediately ordered them for our cake. Yes, it is a bride and groom rubber duck set. When Chuck was younger, his brother couldn't pronounce Chucky (the name he went by for years), so he called him Ducky instead - and his parents played it up by buying him Duck toys and things like that. Over the years, our collection has grown immensely-…so this is very fitting for us. Our friends and family are probably going to end up rolling their eyes at us, but they can't say that it's not memorable!
Catering
For our catering, we are using Cozy based out of Thurmont, Md. The prices are very reasonable and Jennifer has been great to work with - she let us customize our menu without charge and is going to light all of the candles in our centerpieces before the guests arrival to the Reception Hall.

Favors
We are giving out Jordan Almonds as our favors (if chuck doesn’t eat them all first), in the Italian Tradition of five to each guest; representing health, wealth, happiness, fertility, and longevity. We bought 100 4x3 tulle bags in a metallic copper off eBay for 4 dollars total, and are putting one at each persons place setting.
Candy Jars
These are the jars I bought to use for candy at the reception...I'm not quite sure what we are going to fill 'em up with, though I know I would love to do Jolly Ranchers ;-)
We bought the Champagne Vases at Marshalls for a whopping 9 dollars for the set of three, and are going to put wrapped candy (ie, Jolly Ranchers and the sort) in them.
We got the orange containers at Micheals, on sale for 6.50 each.We are going to put unwrapped candy (ie, Amorini Hearts and Skittles) in those, and keep a scoop nearby.

Sweet Stuff
Chuck has admitted to being the PMSing female in our relationship - he loves anything and everything to do with chocolate (I, on the other hand, don’t really care for the stuff). One of the things that he is insisting on having at the reception is a small desert table, so we arranged with our caterer to include fresh cut fruit along with two different types of chocolate fundue (milk and dark), and we are going to provide cookies and some more fruit to dip with.
And because we’re having a buffet dinner, we’ll have a vintage style frame to show off everything that’s on the menu for dinner, as well the names of everything on the desert table (grandpa‘s wonderful cannoli’s, anyone!?!)…
Thirst Quenching
Since our reception venue doesn’t allow alcohol, we are providing our guests will a Soda Bar - full of different types of soda’s and hot chocolate mixes, complete with mashmallows and toppings. We will be toasting with sparkling cider, and will have a table set up with different types of the non-carbonated variety such as apple and peach.
