We had the best worst-wedding ever, and I say that lovingly. We had so many things go wrong that day, but our family and friends pulled through and everyone still ended up having a great time, and that's what mattered.
I had a horrible migraine during the rehearsal and the morning of the wedding and ended up having to take narcotics, which was great for the pain (I did throw up on the limo ride to the church, but I think that was part stress too) but I can barely remember anything of that day because of it. Our photographer was running behind and in order for us not to miss shots of me getting ready, we waited until she arrived - which had a ripple effect, and we were late for everything after that point. Because of all the chaos that was that morning, she didn't have the chance to pick up our photo for our guest book - so guests made their own drawings's of us as well as signing the frame (which, IMO, was even better!)
It downpoured rain all day (good luck, right?), causing my hair to get drenched - it then frizzed up and curled and looked horrible - my bangs were sticking up for a lot of the photos, but oh well, at least I look happy ;-)
The limo took a wrong turn on the way to the church, causing us to be even later then we already were, which wouldn't have been such a big deal (everyone expects weddings to start late, right?), except that my wedding vows to Chuck included a comment about him always being late...talk about hypocritical...thankfully, the pastor made a joke about it as we were saying them, about how this was the one time exception, and everyone laughed, me the hardest.
My sister was told to walk down the aisle, unknowingly before the guys had even entered the church, so that threw everything off with our super-synchronized processional - but I didn't know that till later.
And I sobbed - and I mean sobbed - down the aisle, for reasons that are still unclear to me. It was so bad that Chuck (the pastor, and the rest of the bridal party) had a WTF look on his face in between his attempts to not laugh at me. I would have laughed at me, so I'm surprised he managed to fight it :-)
I had a very bad allergic reaction to my veil, which ended up causing very bright red blisters all over my arms - it photographed lovely, and had me sweating by the end of the ceremony. My photographer ended up ripping it off me midway through our photos when she realized what was going on. I had attributed the itching to my migraine and the meds I had taken, but as soon as that thing came off, I started to feel much better.
My bouquet fell apart as we entered the reception (not sure why), and our bridal party was already seated, therefore throwing off our entrance. No biggie, but we were confused as to what we were suppose to do...so we just walked in hesitantly. My sister lost the safety pins I needed to pin my bustle, so I had to stand out in the rain for 5 minutes while the caterer ran around looking for some and gave them to my mom to bustle my dress. We forgot to toast (our photographer had to remind us, and no one could find our toasting glasses, which ended up being in the kitchen in a box, so we toasted with plastic cups) among other typical wedding stuff.
And the best part...we didn't have any music for the reception. Our playlist that we worked oh so hard on magically vanished that morning (we think my niece may have deleted it when she was playing on the laptop before the ceremony), so we played our ceremony music over and over. We had our few special songs (first dance, father daughter, etc) in a different folder, so we had those...but it got to be a little awkward there, and Chuck had to take over the computer at one point to try to work something out. When people realized what had happened, they went out to their cars and gave us cds they had on them...so we ended up playing elvis and love songs from musicals and the 50s. Different, yes. But hey...expect things to go wrong at your wedding.
As long as you have a good attitude about it, all we be ok.

This is the message I found painted on our bathroom wall that morning at the house (we still haven't painted it, and now I'm not sure if I want to...)
