Living in The Moment
Someone once told me that we do not live for what is, but rather for what could be. It's a beautiful sentiment; always reacting for the dream. It's lovely…but it is also mankind's tragic flaw. How many can say that they truly live for today…this very moment? Who of us can claim that our lives are securely anchored in the world that is actually around us instead of the world that we wish were around us? Dreams - striving to better ourselves, are things that are vital to our existence; but in allowing ourselves to focus too much on the future, are we robbing ourselves of the present? How many of us regulate ourselves to dissatisfying lives, hopping that through endurance, we may someday reach what we truly desire? Where is the logic in living a shadow of a life in a vain attempt to reach a point where we may escape it? Perhaps, instead, we should fill our present with brilliant things; enjoying the lives we live and let the dreams remain in the future instead of forcing them into today to no avail. Be happy now. Don't prepare for happiness later, because you make wake up one day to find that there is no more later, that the life you have lived up until that point was all you get - and no amount of dreaming can change that. So go ahead, and dream of wonderous things - but mind the wonders around you.
They can disappear in an instant.
