First Time Homeowners
We had been saving money for a house since before we even got engaged, but we sorta fell into the whole home buying thing. We hadn't even set a date yet when we came across a house that we liked in the real estate section in the newspaper, and made an appointment with the Realtor who was showing it to look at it. We didn't end up putting an offer on that house, but we decided to go on ahead and stick with that Realtor and look at some more...and some more...and some more. Somehow during all this, we decided to go ahead and get married in a few months, which put a time crunch on EVERYTHING. For 3 months, we looked at houses (the ones to the left are just a few of the ones we saw) and put an offer on quite a few. We were mostly outbid on them, or they fell through inspection, or they were just in REALLY bad shape. We wanted to stick well below our max budget (170,000) and in our area, even taking the economy in consideration, it was hard to find a house that wasn't a complete wreck.
The house that we finally bought was a foreclosure, required mainly cosmetic work, and at 1,1000 (finished) square feet, was perfect for the two of us.
As you will see in the upcoming photo's...I believe the former owners may have been colorblind. Or just blind in general. The first thing we bought was paint for EVERY room in the house. Yes, it was THAT bad.

We found out we got the house on our 7 year anniversary. Chuck had gotten the call from the Realtor, and came by my work with flowers and a card for me - I thought he was being sweet because it was our anniversary, but when I looked on the back of the card and saw a packet of flower seeds, along with the note that I could plant them in our new backyard since we got the house, I was jumping up and down (much to my co-workers amusement)! I was ecstatic - after being outbid on so many houses, it was awesome to have finally gotten one!
